For the holidays I like to get more creative with our favorite plaything and make them holiday-themed.

Since my kids love playdough so much I thought what a great way to get all Christmasy was to make a Christmas scented playdough. - cream of tartar
- Water
- Food Coloring
- Spices – Ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon

Do I need to use Cream of Tartar when making playdough?
Yes. The cream of tartar is important in making the homemade playdough soft.
How to Store Homemade Playdough
Storing homemade playdough is simple. You can use airtight containers, like plastic Rubbermaid containers or you can store them in plastic ziplock bags. Just make sure if you are using ziplock bags you squeeze as much of the air out of the bag as you can when you close them.

How long does homemade playdough last?
Homemade playdough will last up to 3 months as long as it is stored properly in an air tight container or ziplock bag.
How to Make homemade Playdough less sticky
If your playdough is a little sticky you can add a SMALL amount of flour to it when you are kneading it.
How do you color homemade playdough?
Homemade playdoh is easily colored with food coloring. You will need 10-12 drops of whatever color you are wanting to make. I prefer to use liquid food coloring over gel food coloring. You can add more or less food coloring depending on how bright you want the playdoh to be.
Tips for Making Homemade Playdough
If you have little kids then you can stick the playdough into a ziplock bag and have them knead it that way, but I have always found they take it out of the bag anyway so I don’t bother with them.
Once you are done kneading your playdough, you can play with it immediately or store it in an airtight container or ziplock bags.
