Whipped Cream Easter Eggs
If you are looking for a fun way to color easter eggs then you are going to love Whipped Cream Easter Eggs. Using whipped cream and food coloring you will have bright colored and beautiful colored easter eggs.
For many years we used the cups of vinegar and food coloring tablets to color our Easter Eggs. That was always messy when doing it with young kids. Many times we had cups of egg dye be spilled and huge messes because of it. A friend of mine told me about dying Easter Eggs with shaving cream.
Because I like doing these things with my kids I like to make my life easier so I make individual cups of colored whipped cream so the kids can color them easily.

How to Store Dyed Hard Boiled Eggs
After you have colored the Easter Eggs you are going to need to store them. It is best to store hardboiled eggs unpeeled. Place the eggs unpeeled in an air tight container or the egg carton and store in the fridge.
How Long should eggs sit in whipped cream to be dyed?
At least 10 minutes is needed, but they will be a very pale colored dyed egg. The longer you leave the eggs in the whipped cream the darker the color will be, we like leaving them in the whipped cream for 30 minutes but you can leave them in a little bit longer than that if you are wanting darker colors.

Tips for the best results
- Use a spoon to roll the eggs. If you are wanting to keep the kid’s hands clean then have them use a spoon to roll the egg around in the whipped cream. I also like to use plastic gloves as it keeps the kids hands from being dyed different colors.
- Use Gel food coloring. The colors will be brighter and more vibrant when you use gel food coloring instead of liquid food coloring. If you are using liquid food coloring I suggest adding a few drops of vinegar to the whipped cream or doing the vinegar submerging to get a better coloring on the egg shells.
- Leave the eggs in the whipped cream for at least 10 minutes. To get bright colors you want the eggs to sit for quite a bit of time. The eggs need at least 10 minutes but we prefer to leave them in the whipped cream and food coloring for 30 minutes to 1 hour as I find that is the best time for bright colors.
- Use Vinegar. For extra vibrant colors before rolling the hard boiled eggs in the whipped cream and food coloring put them in a bowl of vinegar for 1-2 minutes. You do not have to do this but I find you get even brighter colors when you do.
- Be Gentle. When you are wiping the whipped cream off of the eggs be gentle so you do not crack the shells.

How to Make Whipped Cream Dyed Easter Eggs
Separate whipped cream into 3 to 5 1-cup portions in separate bowls.
Add 3-5 drops of food coloring to each bowl, stirring gently so as to just color a portion of the whipped cream. You can even marble colors together for more colorful eggs.

Place 1 egg into a bowl with the whipped cream and food coloring mixture and gently roll it to cover it in the whipped cream, then place the egg back into the egg carton without removing the whipped cream. Repeat with all of the eggs until they have all been covered in colored whipped cream.

Allow the eggs to sit in this mixture for 30 minutes to an hour (the longer you allow them to sit, the more bright and vivid the colors will be).
Remove an egg from the carton and, with a clean paper towel, gently wipe the excess whipped cream from the egg. Place the egg onto a second paper towel to dry completely. Repeat with the remaining eggs.
