It’s a fantastic way to get them off the screens and into nature, discovering new things and making memories that will last a lifetime.
I’ve designed this free printable scavenger hunt with your little ones in mind, combining fun, education, and excitement all in one activity. All you have to do is print it out and then give it to the kids.
We have made 2 different scavenger hunt lists, both of which are printable pdfs that you can print out as much as you need to. One is with photos for the younger kids and then a list version for the older kids.

How to Do a Scavenger Hunt
Print out the scavenger hunt and then send the kids out to the backyard to find the items. As they find the items have them take a photo of the item or pick up the different items to collect it and then check off the item on the list using a pen, crayon, marker or pencil.
There are different ways to do a scavenger hunt. Pick which way you want to use this scavenger hunt list for how it fits with your summer fun.
Do it individually. Print out a copy for each kid to complete on their own. You can make it a competition to see which kid completes it first.
Do it as a group. If you’re planning to participate as a group, simply download and print one of the available scavenger hunt printables provided at the end of this article. Collaboratively, embark on a quest to locate and check off each item on the list as you discover them.
Make it a competition. Alternatively, if you prefer a competitive twist with teams, print out a separate copy of the scavenger hunt for each team. Upon starting, instruct the teams to locate and retrieve the items listed, ensuring they return to have them crossed off or capture a photo for verification later.

To make color-by-numbers pages waterproof, you can follow these steps: First, enclose the pages inside a laminating sheet or laminate them with a laminator. This protective layer will prevent water damage. Next, have the kids use dry-erase markers or washable paint for coloring. When they are done coloring you can wash off the paper and they can use it again.
