Rain Cloud Paper Craft
Keeping kids interested is a big part of homeschooling. For us we stick with focusing on the topics the kids are interested at the time. Then we branch off to include the core things like math and reading.
My daughter is in love with the weather, so I planned a day of learning about the clouds and weather. The whole lesson is one that would be perfect for preschoolers and kindergarteners. We had quite a few projects the day. We read the Little Cloud book by Eric Carle and the kids had a blast doing weather and cloud activities.

Little Cloud book Learning Plans
This cloud craft project is perfect for anyone doing a lesson plan around the Little Cloud book by Eric Carle. After reading the Little Cloud book as a part of a fun lesson plan to learn about clouds, the kids can make this Paper Rain Cloud Craft and do other cloud and weather activities.
Our day started by reading the Little Cloud book and then we got started learning about how clouds work.
We talked about how clouds are formed and then we did the Shaving Cream Cloud Experiment. Following that fun experiment we moved on to making this paper rain cloud craft.
When making our paper rain cloud made the normal shape of the cloud and then used the streamers represent the rain falling out of the cloud. I had the kids cut out their own clouds in the shapes that they wanted to.
After making this easy rain cloud craft we moved on to doing the Cloud Shapes Craft and then we made Homemade Cloud dough which the kids made different shapes out of the cloud dough.
On top of these activities, if you are wanting to get more activities for the kids then painting clouds with homemade puffy paint inside or going outside and using sidewalk paint is a great addition to the day.

How do Clouds Work
An important part of our lesson was learning about how clouds work. It is important to explain how clouds work so the kids understand. You can share this information at any point with the kids. I like to keep things as a discussion while they are doing an activity so it is not boring for them.
Clouds are formed when water vapor rises into the air. When the water vapor hits cold air they turn back into water droplets. The water droplets collect together along with other particles in the air like dust to form a cloud.
Once a cloud is formed it continues to attract water droplets. Over time clouds get so full of water that they can’t hold any more and the water falls back to the ground as rain.
