My kids love making homemade slime recipes and there are so many slime recipes that you can make once you get down the basics of making homemade slime recipes. This fluffy slime recipe takes the basic recipe and makes it even more fun by making it fluffy and squishy while having festive colors. This fun activity is perfect to do with the kids while they are on winter break.
Because are making this slime with little kids we like to stick with the 3 basic safe ingredients of white glue, contact solution and baking soda instead of using liquid starch or borax powder.
Slime is great for sensory play and I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t love making it and playing with it. You can play with slime on its own, use cookie cutters or add it to sensory bins.

Why is Fluffy Slime called Fluffy slime?
Fluffy slime is super fluffy and pillowy soft. You make fluffy slime just like you do regular slime but then add in shaving cream to make it fluffy. The more shaving cream you add the fluffier it will get. If you want perfect fluffy slime be sure to follow the instructions of this recipe perfectly. For our fluffy slime recipe we use contact solution instead of borax or liquid starch because we find it is easier and I do not like young children using the chemicals that are with borax and liquid starch.

How long will fluffy slime last?
The fluffiness of the slime will only last about a day even if it is stored properly. It will still be fluffier then your normal slime but not as fluffy as when you first make it after you have stored it.
How to store Christmas Fluffy Slime
Butter slime needs to be stored in an airtight container. When stored properly it will last for about a week. You can also store it in a zip close plastic bag and squeeze the air out of it.

Butter slime is stretchy and fluffy because when it is made you also use shaving cream (which makes it fluffy) along with the normal slime ingredients that make it stretchy.

The best glue to use when making slime is Elmer’s school glue. For this slime recipe we are using white school glue, but other recipes that we have use clear glue and we always suggest using Elmer’s glue as we find it is the best glue for slime making.
What is the best contact solution for making slime?
When making slime it is important that the ingredients in your saline solution has the ingredients needed to react with the glue so the slime forms. Whatever brand of contact lens solution you use must have boric acid and sodium borate in the ingredient list.

How do you know if slime is overactivated?
When you are making slime you need to use slime activators, for our recipe we use saline solution (other recipes for slime call for using borax or liquid starch but we prefer to use saline solution for our slime recipes). If you add too much saline solution then your slime will got from being slime like to very rubbery and break apart easily.
How do you keep slime from sticking to your hand when making it?
Fluffy slime is sticky when it is being made so you can use gloves while you are making it or you can rub your hands with baby oil or lotion before making the slime to keep it from sticking to your hands.
How do you fix a stiff fluffy slime?
If your slime is dry and stiff that does not mean that it is ruined. Add the slime to a small bowl and then add a little bit of water to the bowl and squish the slime with the water to add the water to the ball of slime and incorporate the water into the slime to bring it back to being stretchy and fun.

- 4 teaspoons Saline Solution (Contact Solution)
- Food Coloring in Red and Green (Gel preferred)
- Holiday Slime Sprinkles

How to Make Fluffy Christmas Slime
In a medium sized mixing bowl add the glue, food coloring and the water. Mix well using a spoon.
Once the water and glue mixture is made and mixed well add in the shaving cream and gently fold it into the glue and water mixture with the spoon.
Add in the baking soda and mix well.
Add saline solution in one teaspoons at a time and mix well. Continue adding saline little by little and mix after each adding and mix until slime start to form.
Split the mixture into 2 portions.
Add 2-3 drops of green food coloring to one portion of the slime and then red food coloring to the other portion of the slime. Then mix the color in with your hands.
Sprinkle each color of slime with the holiday sprinkles and mix them into the slime.
Twist the green slime and the red slime together to make for a fun holiday themed slime.
