Can you believe we are only weeks away from Thanksgiving? I know I can not and I feel like it totally snuck up on me! There is so much to get done for the holidays but there are also so many simple crafts for Thanksgiving that I have in my head and want to do with my kids. This easy paper plate turkey craft is one that my kids loved making.
Holiday crafts are so much fun for the kids and I love spending the quality time with them while making them. Crafts for the holidays are a must-do for me each year as a part of our Thanksgiving fun. This adorable paper plate turkey craft is a great craft for kids to make their own turkey and it is made with simple supplies you probably already have in the house.

Crafts are not only fun for kids but they are a great way to get young kids to work on their fine motor skills. When it comes to the holidays I try to do as many crafts as I can with the kids. Because the holidays are always crazy for us I like to keep them simple. This simple Thanksgiving craft is one that my kids love making and I always use this Thanksgiving paper plate turkey craft as a center piece for our Thanksgiving dinner table.
This simple paper plate turkey is a good craft for older kids to do on their own. It is simple enough that once given instructions older kids can make their own paper plate turkey without much assistance. If you are doing this craft with younger kids you will want to sit with them and do it with them.

Tips for Making this craft with kids
Use glue sticks. When I was making it I used a hot glue gun because when taking photos it would be messed with a lot, but when you are doing crafts with the kids you want to use glue sticks, glue dots, or bottle glue.
Color the template. If you do not want to use construction paper then you can have the kids color in the turkey template in the colors needed. You can have the kids use markers, crayons of colored pencils to color the different turkey parts.
Have an adult do the cutting. If you are having younger kids make this fun activity then you will want to cut out the different colored construction paper ahead of time.
Use card stock or construction paper. We always have tons of construction paper in our house, but you can also use card stock for making this adorable turkey craft.
Use Feathers. I have included turkey feathers on the template for you to cut out but you can change things up and use different-colored feathers instead for the turkey’s feathers.
Use Googly eyes. I have included the eyes as a part of the template, but you can change things up.
